Patio Covers in the City of Las Vegas
Inside Las Vegas city limits, patio covers are permitted by City of Las Vegas Building & Safety. Many homes with a Las Vegas mailing address are actually in unincorporated Clark County, which has its own permit office. We pull the right permit for your address on every job.
City of Las Vegas patio cover permits
Building & Safety has its own Patio Cover Application, for residential and commercial patio covers. Everything is submitted electronically.

- Apply
- Online at LasVegasNevada.gov/Dashboard
- With a pre-approved design (a Southern Nevada standard design, or an approved aluminum or steel product such as ICC ESR 1953 or IAPMO 195): a signed site plan and the patio cover application.
- Without one: digitally signed engineered plans, plus the site plan and application, and a full plan review.
- Once approved, the plans and permit are printed and kept at the jobsite.
- "Building Permits expire 180 days after issuance if no passed inspections performed."
Las Vegas address, Clark County permit
The permit comes from whoever governs your property, not your mailing city. Unincorporated areas such as Paradise, Spring Valley, Enterprise, Sunrise Manor, Winchester and Whitney go through the Clark County Building Department, (702) 455-3000, where zoning setbacks apply.
